These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Barnes Cleaner provides cleaning services to residential and commercial clients within its service area in the United Kingdom. By booking or using any service provided by Barnes Cleaner, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before making a booking.
In these Terms and Conditions, the following words have the meanings given below.
Client refers to any individual, company or organisation that requests or receives services from Barnes Cleaner.
Company refers to Barnes Cleaner, the provider of the cleaning services.
Services refers to any cleaning or related services provided by the Company to the Client, including but not limited to domestic cleaning, commercial cleaning, end of tenancy cleaning, deep cleaning, and one off or regular cleaning visits.
Service Area refers to the locations within which the Company agrees to provide Services. The Service Area may be updated from time to time at the Companys discretion.
Cleaner refers to any employee, worker, or subcontractor engaged by the Company to deliver the Services.
The Company will provide the Services as agreed with the Client at the time of booking. The specific tasks, frequency, and duration of visits will be confirmed during the booking process.
The Company reserves the right to decline any booking request that falls outside the Service Area or involves tasks that are unsafe, unlawful, or beyond the scope of typical professional cleaning activities.
Unless expressly agreed in writing, the Company does not provide services that require specialist qualifications or licensing, such as professional pest control, electrical work, plumbing, or structural repairs.
Bookings may be made by the Client through the Companys accepted booking channels, which may include online forms or written requests. The Client must provide accurate and complete information, including the property type, approximate size, condition, and any specific requirements.
All bookings are subject to availability. A booking is only confirmed once the Company has accepted the request and communicated confirmation to the Client. Provisional quotes and availability indications do not constitute a confirmed booking.
The Company may request a deposit or pre authorisation of payment to secure a booking. If the Client fails to provide requested payment details or deposit by the date specified, the Company may release the slot and treat the booking as cancelled by the Client.
The Client is responsible for ensuring that access to the property is available at the agreed time. If the Cleaner is unable to gain access due to keys not being available, security limitations, or the Client not being present where required, this may be treated as a late cancellation and charges may apply.
Prices for Services are generally based on an hourly rate, fixed fee, or a combination of both, as communicated to the Client at the booking stage. Rates may vary depending on the type of service, property size, level of soiling, and location within the Service Area.
Any quote provided by the Company is based on the information supplied by the Client and the Companys assessment of the work required. Should the actual condition or size of the property differ significantly from that described, the Company reserves the right to adjust the price or the scope of work accordingly.
The Company may revise its price lists and rates from time to time. Existing Clients will be informed in advance of any changes affecting ongoing regular services.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment for Services is due on completion of the visit or in accordance with any schedule of payments specified by the Company. For regular services, payments may be taken in advance or on a recurring basis as agreed.
The Company accepts the payment methods it has publicly stated as available, such as bank transfer or card payment. Cash payments may be declined at the Companys discretion. The Client is responsible for ensuring that any payment method used has sufficient funds and authorisation.
Where an invoice is issued, payment must be made within the time stated on the invoice. If no period is specified, payment will be due within seven calendar days of the invoice date.
If payment is not received by the due date, the Company reserves the right to suspend further Services until all outstanding amounts are paid in full. The Company may also charge interest on overdue amounts at the maximum rate permitted by applicable UK law and may recover any reasonable costs incurred in pursuing late payment.
The Client may cancel or reschedule a booking by giving the notice period specified by the Company at the time of booking. If no specific period is stated, a minimum of 48 hours notice before the scheduled start time of the Service is required.
If the Client cancels or reschedules a booking with less than the required notice, the Company may charge a cancellation fee up to the value of the minimum call out or minimum booked time, to cover administrative and scheduling costs and lost opportunity.
If the Cleaner attends the property and cannot gain access, or if work cannot be carried out due to circumstances within the Clients control, this may be treated as a late cancellation and the full or partial fee may be payable.
The Company reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a booking if a Cleaner is unavailable due to illness, emergency, travel disruption, or other circumstances beyond the Companys reasonable control. In such cases, the Company will offer an alternative appointment where possible, but will not be liable for any losses arising from such cancellation or rescheduling.
The Client must ensure that the property is safe and suitable for the provision of cleaning services. This includes providing safe access, adequate lighting, and a working supply of electricity and water, unless otherwise agreed.
The Client should remove or secure valuable, delicate, or irreplaceable items before the Cleaner arrives. The Company will not be responsible for loss or damage to items which the Cleaner has been specifically instructed not to touch or areas not included in the agreed scope of work.
The Client must inform the Company of any known hazards or sensitivities within the property, including but not limited to alarm systems, fragile surfaces, pet related issues, restricted areas, and any surfaces that require special cleaning methods or products.
If the Client requests the use of their own cleaning materials or equipment, this is done at the Clients risk. The Company will not be liable for any damage or unsatisfactory results where non standard or unsuitable products or equipment have been supplied or specified by the Client.
The Company aims to provide Services to a professional standard appropriate for domestic and commercial premises within the Service Area. The Cleaner will follow reasonable industry practices and any specific instructions agreed with the Client.
If the Client is not satisfied with any aspect of the Service, the Client should notify the Company as soon as possible, and in any case within 24 hours of the visit. The Company will investigate complaints and, where a shortcoming is identified, may offer a re clean of the affected area or another appropriate remedy at the Companys discretion.
Complaints made after 24 hours may be more difficult to assess and may limit the Companys ability to provide a corrective service.
The Company will take reasonable care when providing the Services. The Company maintains insurance cover appropriate for its business activities in the United Kingdom. Details of relevant cover can be provided upon reasonable request.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Companys total liability to the Client for any loss or damage arising from or in connection with the provision of the Services, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, is limited to the total price paid by the Client for the specific visit during which the incident occurred.
The Company will not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of profit, loss of business, loss of reputation, or loss of opportunity. The Company will not be responsible for pre existing damage, fair wear and tear, or deterioration resulting from the normal ageing of materials, fixtures, and fittings.
The Company will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from inaccurate information supplied by the Client, misuse of the property or contents, failure to follow the Companys instructions, or events beyond the Companys reasonable control.
Where the Client provides keys or access codes to the Company, these will be handled with reasonable care and solely for the purpose of providing the Services. The Client is responsible for ensuring that keys and codes provided are correct and that any alarm systems are set to allow access at the agreed times.
The Company will not be liable for any alarm activation charges, security service fees, or other costs arising from incorrect details supplied by the Client or from faults within the Clients security systems.
The Company will comply with applicable UK laws and regulations in relation to the storage, handling, and disposal of waste generated during the provision of Services.
General household or office waste that is ordinarily disposed of via the Clients own bins or facilities will be placed in the designated containers at the property, unless otherwise agreed. The Company is not obliged to remove waste from the property unless a specific waste removal service has been arranged and may charge an additional fee for any such service.
Hazardous or controlled waste, including but not limited to medical waste, sharp objects, chemicals, and certain building materials, will not be handled or removed unless expressly agreed and only where the Company is permitted and appropriately equipped to do so. The Client must disclose the presence of any such waste in advance.
The Client remains responsible for ensuring that any waste left at the property is ultimately disposed of in compliance with local and national regulations. The Company encourages responsible environmental practices and may adjust methods and materials to reduce environmental impact where reasonably practicable.
The Company is committed to maintaining high standards of health and safety for both Cleaners and Clients. Cleaners are instructed not to undertake tasks that may endanger their health or safety or that require specialist equipment, such as working at excessive heights or moving extremely heavy items without assistance.
The Client must not request or insist that the Cleaner perform any activity that is unsafe, contrary to the Companys policies, or outside the agreed scope of Services. In such circumstances, the Cleaner may refuse the request, and the Company may terminate the Service if necessary.
The Company may collect and process personal data about the Client in connection with the provision of Services, including contact details, property information, and payment details. The Company will handle such data in accordance with applicable UK data protection laws.
The Company will use the Clients personal data for purposes including managing bookings, delivering Services, processing payments, and dealing with queries and complaints. The Company may also use anonymised or aggregated data for internal business analysis.
The Company will not sell the Clients personal data to third parties. Data may be shared with service providers and partners where necessary to deliver the Services or meet legal obligations.
For regular or ongoing Services, either party may terminate the arrangement by giving the notice period agreed at the outset of the contract. If no specific period is stated, a minimum of 14 days written notice is required.
The Company may terminate Services with immediate effect if the Client fails to pay amounts due, behaves in an abusive or threatening manner towards any Cleaner or representative, requests unlawful or unsafe activities, or otherwise commits a serious breach of these Terms and Conditions.
Upon termination, the Client remains responsible for paying for all Services provided up to the termination date and for any applicable cancellation or late payment charges.
The Company may update or amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in law, business practices, or service offerings. The latest version will apply to any new or renewed bookings made after the date of publication.
Where possible, the Company will give existing Clients reasonable notice of any significant changes that may affect ongoing regular services.
These Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the Services provided, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions or their subject matter, including any non contractual disputes or claims.
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found by a court or competent authority to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision shall be deemed deleted, but the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
These Terms and Conditions, together with any written confirmation or specific agreement relating to a particular booking, constitute the entire agreement between the Client and the Company in relation to the provision of the Services and supersede any prior understandings, representations, or agreements, whether oral or written.
By proceeding with a booking or allowing the Services to be carried out at the property, the Client confirms that they have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
